12 HOUR HOISIN SHREDDED CHILLI CHICKEN

Chicken is slow-cooked with a generous serving of Hoisin sauce, and for those who enjoy a bit of heat, optional chili flakes. The blend of garlic, five spice, spring onions, and cherry tomatoes infuses the chicken with a rich and aromatic taste.

Ingredients-

  • 900g chicken

  • 1/2 bottle of Hoisin sauce (315g bottle)

  • 1 tablespoon chili flakes (optional)

  • 4 garlic cloves

  • 1/2 teaspoon five spice

  • 2 spring onions, finely chopped

  • 8 cherry tomatoes


Instructions-

  1. Place the chicken, 1/2 bottle of Hoisin sauce, chili flakes (if using), garlic cloves, five spice, spring onions, and cherry tomatoes in the slow cooker.

  2. Set the slow cooker to low and let it cook for 12 hours (or a minimum of 8 hours).

  3. If preferred, you can start the slow cooker before bedtime and let it cook safely overnight. Begin cooking at 9 pm and take it out at 9 am.

  4. In the morning, turn off the slow cooker.

  5. To create a flavourful sauce, add 100ml of cold water, 2 tablespoons of cornflour, 1/4 bottle of Hoisin sauce, and a squeeze of honey. Stir well and let it thicken while it cools.

  6. Serve and enjoy!
