CRISPY CHILLI BEEF

Crispy, tender beef strips with a sweet and spicy sauce. The beef is marinated in a blend of ginger, garlic, soy sauce, and sesame oil, creating a rich depth of flavour. To achieve the crispiness, each strip is generously coated in cornflour before being fried perfectly. The sauce, a blend of sweet chilli, soy sauces, and a touch of spice, is the perfect finishing touch. This budget-friendly recipe is simple to prepare, and you can even marinate the beef overnight for a convenient meal the next day.

Ingredients-

For the Beef Marinade:

  • 2 Beef Steaks (Quick Cook Steak, Rump, Sirloin, Ribeye)

  • 2 tsp ginger

  • 2 tsp garlic

  • 2 tbsp soy sauce

  • 2 tsp sesame oil

  • 1 tsp black pepper

For Coating:

  • 1 egg

  • Cornflour

For the Sauce:

  • 3 tbsp sweet chilli sauce

  • 1 tbsp light soy sauce

  • 1 tbsp dark soy sauce

  • 1 tsp cider vinegar

  • 1 tbsp sugar

  • 1/4 tsp salt

  • 1 1/2 tbsp tomato ketchup

  • 1/2 tsp chilli powder

Cooking the Beef-

  1. To achieve the desired crispiness, heat a generous amount of vegetable oil in a deep pan or wok. If you don't have a thermometer, test the oil's readiness by dipping a piece of beef into it. If it sizzles and fries, the oil is hot enough.

  2. Fry the coated beef in batches, cooking each batch for about 3-4 minutes until they turn crispy and golden brown.

  3. Once the beef is cooked, immediately transfer it to a large pan with the prepared sauce to preserve its crispiness.

Final Assembly:

  1. Pour the sauce into the pan with the cooked beef and simmer for a couple of minutes until it becomes sticky, creating the perfect glaze.

  2. Serve your Crispy Chilli Beef with your choice of accompaniment, whether it's rice, noodles, vegetables, or even crispy chips. The choice is yours!

To ensure your beef stays exceptionally crispy, slice it very thinly, coat each piece generously in cornflour, and add it to the sauce immediately after cooking.

Enjoy your meal!
